Our Mission: The mission of SOW is to support in the reduction of morbidity, mortality, poverty and ignorance among women and children through education, provision of self-supporting skills and liaising with government and non-governmental organizations in the education about the HIV/AIDS pandemic. SOW commenced business when three members made up of Mrs. Patricia Nyamful, Mrs. Margaret Obirikorang and Wilhelmina Dzandu the co – founders met in July 2001 to plan its course of action. It was the desire if these founders to pool their mental and physical resources and team up with like –mended people to set in motion series of interventions aimed at improving the living standards of the Ghanaian women living in absolute poverty and plagued with preventable diseases in rural areas.
What We Do: OBJECTIVES
S.O.W FOUNDATION GHANA WAS ESTABLISHED IN MARCH 1996 WITH ITS MAIN AIM OF EMPOWERING THE RURAL WOMEN AND YOUTH WITH TRANING FOR THEM TO ACQUIRE EMPLOYABLE SKILLS. SINCE ITS INCEPTION, S.O.W FOUNDATION HAS ORGANISED VARIOUS WORKSHOPS AND SEMINARS FOR WOMEN AND YOUTH. SOME OF THE PROJECTS TO BE CARRIED OUT ARE:
1. TRAINING OF GENDER DEVELOPMENT; GOVERNANCE ROLE FOR RURAL WOMEN IN HO DISTRICT.
2. HIV/AIDS SENSITIZATION PROGRAM IN AKOEFE, HO DISTRICT FROM 17TH JANUARY - 24TH JANUARY 2005.
PROJECTS ALREADY CARRIED OUT INCLUDE:
1. TRAINING OF 25 WOMEN IN SKILL TRAINING AND MICRO ENTREPRENUERSHIP IN AKOEFE, HO DISTRICT.
2. WORKSHOP FOR 125 STUDENTS IN 5 SELECTED SCHOOLS IN HO MUNICIPALITY ON SEXUAL REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH ISSUES.
3. PARTNERING WITH VOLTA REGIONAL WATER AND SANITATION AGENCY TO PROMOTE HAND WASHING WITH SOAP FOR OVER 800 SCHOOL CHILDREN IN HO DISTRICT.
