Burgeoning Inflation in Local Market Incenses Residents
|
Sandbank Times - Edition 4 Fort Dauphin, September 29, 2006: Inflation has been skyrocketing at an unprecedented rate in Fort Dauphin, resulting from an influx of new residents supplanted here to work for corporate gain. The Tanambo market based at the periphery of the town has seen the price of pineapples rise from 50 cents to $2.50 in two hours. Ridiculous. Further comparisons with other parts of the country make Fort Dauphin the most expensive place to live – or at least the local market the most expensive place to shop. It has been especially difficult for the Malagasy, who are finding it increasing difficult to keep up with the rising prices. |
