I'm thrilled to announce that a piece I wrote with World Hum in mind over a year ago - before I discovered Matador, started blogging, went to the Book Passage conference, and generally starting seeing any sort of progress in my travel writing efforts - was published today on, yes, World Hum!

It's called Affairs To Remember - On-Screen and Off, and it's about Hollywood's penchant for making movies where two people meet in Europe and fall "instantly, madly, inexplicably in love". I'm really excited about it because, although I've been making big strides in my writing in terms of being able to quit my job and go full-time, etc, I haven't been making time to do a lot of the type of writing that interests me most - the more personal, quasi-literary side of things. So hopefully seeing this one go live will inspire me to stick to it, in between those 500-word museum reviews that pay the bills!
