I'm all about the locals. I like to travel independently, and be as immursed in the culture as possible. On my recent South America trip I would venture to a new place and sit in the plaza, studying spanish or reading my guidebook. People would be curious. I met a lot of local friends this way, and it led to some unique experiences you can never get from a touring with other gringos. I would like to do more off the beaten track travel, try travelling without a guidebook, and try using my own mode of transportation (motorcycle?)
